Our Slide into Summer camps are led by highly qualified educators with experience working with children. Camp themes are developed by Pennon Education’s professional educators, using inquiry as a framework and applying innovative teaching methods to provide truly inspirational learning experiences for campers.

 $135/week for half day (morning or afternoon)
OR $270/week for full day

Camps are held in the Innovation Studio & Digital Creator Studio at the WITF Public Media Center, 4801 Lindle Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17111. Campers who are enrolled in both morning and afternoon camps are invited to pack a lunch and remain with the teachers during the lunch hour.

Morning: 8:30am – Noon | For students entering 4th-6th grade

Get ready to step into the shoes of a real-life Data Detective and uncover the hidden mysteries of the world around you! Explore your local environment as you collect clues about weather, water, wildlife, and more.

Through hands-on investigations and teamwork, you’ll analyze your findings, solve real-world science puzzles, and see how the data you collect can tell big stories about our planet. By the end of the week, you’ll put your detective skills to the test in a final showcase, sharing your discoveries and proving that anyone can be a citizen scientist!

Afternoon: 1pm – 4:30pm | For students entering 4th-6th grade

This hands-on camp is perfect for curious minds who love to build, tinker, and dream big. Campers will explore how everyday things work through fun experiments and creative challenges, then use their knowledge to design and prototype their own inventions. The week wraps up with a mini “Shark Tank” showcase, where young innovators pitch their ideas to a panel of friendly “investors.” It’s the perfect mix of science, creativity, and entrepreneurship—where imagination meets innovation!

Step into the world of engineering and innovation! In this exciting camp, young creators will explore how engineers use imagination, problem-solving, and teamwork to design and build the structures that shape our world. Through hands-on exploration, campers will discover the connection between science, math, and creativity as they think like real engineers to plan, test, and improve their designs.  By the end of the week, campers will gain confidence as inventors and builders—ready to take on any challenge with curiosity and big ideas!

Afternoon: 1pm – 4:30pm | For students entering 2nd and 3rd grade

Discover how creativity and curiosity come together in exciting ways. Campers will explore the connections between artistic expression and scientific thinking as they step into imaginative storylines that encourage observation, experimentation, and collaboration. Through playful activities, they’ll learn how ideas can be transformed into motion and how simple materials can bring stories to life. Each day builds confidence as students practice problem‑solving, communication, and creative design, all while experiencing the wonder of art and science working hand in hand.

Get ready to explore the incredible world of energy—the force that lights our homes, moves our communities, and powers the planet! In this action-packed week, campers will dive into how different kinds of energy are created, transferred, and transformed. From electricity and light to heat, sound, motion, and even renewable sources like wind and solar, you’ll discover how energy takes many forms and fuels the world around us.

Through hands-on experiments and creative challenges, you’ll see how energy powers real-world systems and devices, then put your knowledge to work by designing and showcasing your own energy-powered inventions. Along the way, you’ll explore how energy is delivered safely and responsibly, how different energy sources impact our environment, and discover simple ways you can make smart, sustainable energy choices too!

Did you know living things adapt and evolve over time? Ever wonder how humans and animals have changed to survive in their environments—and how they might keep changing in the future? From camouflaged creatures to human inventions inspired by nature, we’ll explore how life adapts, mimics, and evolves. Discover the past, imagine the future, and uncover how nature’s best ideas shape the world around us!

Through hands-on investigations and creative challenges, you’ll uncover how living things survive, change, and inspire new ideas. Explore the secrets of nature’s best problem-solvers and along the way, you’ll see how the wild world—and even humans—adapt, evolve, and innovate!

Campers can embark on a playful journey of discovery. Each day brings new adventures inspired by exploring far‑off places, meeting new cultures, and imagining what it’s like to be a world traveler. Campers will set off on playful journeys that encourage exploration, creativity, and problem‑solving. Whether they’re discovering new “destinations,” diving into hands‑on projects, or experimenting with coding. Through games, stories, and interactive experiences, kids will collect “memories” in their passports while building curiosity, friendship, and a sense of exploration.

Explore the amazing world of weather! In this exciting camp, young scientists will dive into the wonders of weather as we explore the new PBS KIDS show Weather Hunters to discover fascinating weather phenomena. Campers will step into the role of a meteorologist, learning how the forces of nature work together to shape our skies and our planet. Throughout the week, they will observe, ask questions, and discover patterns and changes in the weather around them. Campers will also have the unique opportunity to report on the weather in our Digital Creator Studio, bringing science and storytelling together in a fun, hands-on way. By the end of the week, they will see the world in a whole new way, full of curiosity, wonder, and discovery.

STEM integrates hands-on exploration of topics related to science, technology, engineering, mathematics and the arts. A great example is this year’s Maker Masters camp where campers will think like real engineers to plan, test, and improve their designs!

Many of our camp offerings infuse career exploration and opportunities to work with experts in field. This summer, campers will work alongside WITF audio engineers, creative directors, and content experts for a truly immersive camp experience. During a previous camp about flight and aerodynamics, campers had the opportunity to work with real-life experts like a drone pilot and a helicopter pilot.

Digital creation camps focus on the creation of digital visual art and audio production. A great example is our interactive Weather Wonders Week camp, where campers will have the unique opportunity to report on the weather in our Digital Creator Studio, bringing science and storytelling together in a fun, hands-on way.

Half-day camp costs $135 per week per camper and full-day camp costs $270 per week per camper. Lunch is not provided; campers enrolled in full-day camp should bring a packed lunch. 

Pennon Education is committed to making summer camp experiences accessible to all students. For Summer 2026, camp scholarship were made available to eligible families thanks to the generous support from Anne M. & Philip H. Glatfelter III Family Foundation, PPL Foundation and The Hershey Company.

You don’t have to live in Harrisburg to attend these camps – Slide into Summer Camps are open to all students.

What should my child wear to your summer camp?
Campers will be exploring and creating! It’s recommended to wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes that are okay to get a little messy! 

Campers may go outdoors. Students staying for the full day may eat outdoors, weather permitting. 

Do I need to supply safety gear for a STEM camp?
No, we will supply goggles and any other necessary safety equipment.

Do I need to pack lunch for my child?
Yes, please pack a lunch if your child is enrolled in full-day camp.

How are drop-off and pickup handled?
An authorized adult (parent/guardian/other) will need to enter the lobby with the camper to sign campers in at the start of their camp and sign them out at the end of their camp. 

Morning and all-day camp drop-off begins at 8:15am. Pick-up for campers enrolled in morning-only camp is at noon. 

Drop-off for campers enrolled in afternoon-only camp is from 12:45pm – 1:00pm. 

End of day pick-up for afternoon and all-day camp is at 4:30pm at the front entrance of the WITF Public Media Center located at 4801 Lindle Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17111.

As you enter the WITF parking lot, located on Keckler Road, you’ll take the ramp to the right up to a small lot in front of the building, where you’ll find accessibility spaces. You may park there for drop-off and pick-up. The front entrance is easily accessible from there. 

What is the cancellation policy?
Full refunds minus fees will be issued to cancellations made at least 14 days prior to the start of camp. Cancellations or changes made less than 14 calendar days before camp starts will incur a $50 fee. Cancellations or changes made less than 7 calendar days before camp starts are not eligible for a refund.

Can I change my child’s summer camp registration?
Registration changes can be made up to 14 days prior to the start of camp. Adding an additional half-day camp will result in a $135/camper charge. Changing from full-day to half-day camp will result in a $135/camper refund.

How do I request a registration cancellation or change?
To request a refund or change to your registration, contact Jennifer Eley at jennifer_eley@pennon.org or 717-910-2641. Refund requests will be responded to within 5 business days.

What if Pennon Education cancels the camp?
We reserve the right to cancel camps that do not meet the minimum enrollment requirement. Should this occur, every attempt will be made to move students to a similar camp, or a full refund will be offered.

Does Pennon Education offer a sibling discount for multiple campers? 
Pennon Education does not offer a sibling discount at this time.
